Watch for next year: National Fuel
A couple of facts we prepared for you about the Dayton-area natural gas utility change and this winter. It takes a little over a minute.
In the video
- On October 1, 2026, National Fuel bought CenterPoint’s Ohio natural gas utility. For now, billing and payments stay the same, with advance notice before any changes.
- Our view: account numbers, the payment address and the bill itself could change in 2027, so watch your bill-pay and autopay.
- Delivery rates went up in January 2026, the first base-rate increase since 2018. Delivery is regulated. Supply is the part you can plan.
- Last winter ran about 5% colder, and January’s storm set a record natural gas price.
- The EIA expects U.S. production up about 4%, with storage above its five-year average. Our view: it leans mild, but one cold week can reset a season.
